Our barbecue rub is sweet, smokey, and packs a little punch!
When developing this rub, we were looking for something that balanced the various flavors we were looking for. In particular, the rub needed to be a little sweet, a little smokey, and packed a little bit of heat!
But that’s not the only thing that mattered. We also wanted a rub that we could use as a standard, all-purpose rub for different smoked barbecue applications such as beef brisket, pork ribs, pork shoulders, and chicken thighs.
To do this, we knew that it had to include a well-balanced mix of standard seasonings such as salt, pepper, brown sugar, onion powder, and garlic powder. But it also had to include the right flavor profile from chilis and other spices.
After much trial and error, we developed the “Standard”… a spice rub that absolute knocks it out of the park!
You can use it sparingly to add a little extra to your dishes or you can pack it on to add some major flavor. The choice is up to you!
