Our leather goods are made from premium, full-grain leathers and are meant to last a lifetime.
The use of full-grain leather ensures that your piece is unique — there is no other like it. The natural features of the leather – wrinkles, veins, pores, range marks, and other distinguishing marks – reveal the quality of the leather that you are handling.
To ensure that your piece lasts, consider the following suggestions:
1. Protect it from bad weather. Leather is sensitive to natural elements such as water, oil, heat, light, and extreme environments. Intense light and heat, such as direct sunlight and particularly sunlight magnified through home or car windows, may alter the color of the leather. If your piece comes into contact with water, use a soft cloth to wipe it dry to prevent the formation of stains and blisters.
2. Keep it away from bad influences. Products such as ink, cosmetics, perfume, and alcohol-based products can discolor leather. In addition, treat your piece with care. Unduly bending it, sitting on it, or overloading it can negatively affect its shape.
3. Clean it with a damp, soft cloth and buff with a neutral-color polish. Colored polishes can change the color of the leather. Saddle soap-type products do a good job of cleaning the leather, but they can also become saturated with the leather’s dye and discolor thread. Therefore, we suggest using a soft, damp (not wet) cloth to clean your piece. To return luster to it, use a neutral polish and buff it well.
