Our story
Built for the Card in Your Back Pocket
We started with the two things a golfer carries for all eighteen holes: the scorecard and the yardage book. Both ride in a back pocket round after round, so we make their covers from leather built for a lot of rounds.
Everything happens in our workshop. We cut each piece from Italian full-grain Buttero, Waxy or Minerva Box, sew it on our leather sewing machine and finish the edges ourselves. Then it gets our stamp: Buck Magnussen, Made in the U.S.A.
Full-grain leather keeps its natural surface, so it darkens and picks up a patina where your hands hold it. It'll look better in five years than it does today.
How it's made
From Hide to Cover
The Leather
Italian full-grain Buttero, Waxy and Minerva Box. All three are vegetable-tanned and wear in rather than out.
Cut
Every panel is cut from the hide in our workshop, sized to the card or book it will carry.
Sewn and Finished
Sewn on our leather sewing machine in one of fourteen thread colors. We burnish the edges and press any monogram in gold or silver foil, or deboss it.
